1. About these terms
These terms govern the tutoring services provided by K-Star Learning Academy (“K-Star”, “we”, “us”) to parents, guardians and students (“you”) in the United Kingdom. By booking a lesson or assessment, you agree to these terms.
2. Bookings & assessments
All new families receive a free 30-minute diagnostic assessment. Ongoing tuition begins once you confirm a schedule and pay the first invoice. Bookings are confirmed by email.
3. Fees & payment
- Fees are quoted in GBP and depend on year group, format (1-to-1 or group) and tutor seniority.
- Invoices are issued in advance, typically on a monthly cycle, and are payable within 7 days.
- Late payments may incur a £15 administration fee and suspension of lessons until cleared.
4. Cancellations & rescheduling
- Lessons cancelled with at least 24 hours’ notice are rescheduled free of charge.
- Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged in full.
- K-Star will give as much notice as possible if a tutor is unavailable, and will either reschedule or provide a substitute tutor.
5. Tutors
All tutors are enhanced DBS-checked, hold a relevant degree and have been interviewed by our academic team. You agree not to engage a K-Star tutor directly outside of our platform for a period of 12 months after lessons end. If you wish to continue privately, an introduction fee applies — please contact us.
6. Conduct & safeguarding
We follow strict safeguarding procedures in line with UK guidance for working with children. Lessons should take place in an appropriate environment (a shared room at home, or our online classroom). Inappropriate behaviour by any party may result in termination of lessons.
7. Online lessons & recordings
Online lessons take place via our secure virtual classroom. Lessons may be recorded for educational and safeguarding purposes; recordings are stored securely and only shared with the student and parent on request.
8. Intellectual property
All teaching materials, worksheets and resources provided by K-Star remain our intellectual property and are for the student’s personal use only. They may not be reproduced, shared or sold.
9. Liability
K-Star is responsible for delivering tuition with reasonable care and skill. We cannot guarantee specific exam outcomes, as results depend on many factors outside our control. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees paid in the 3 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death, personal injury or fraud.
10. Termination
Either party may end the tuition arrangement at any time by giving 2 weeks’ notice in writing to hello@kstarlearning.co.uk. Outstanding fees up to the end of the notice period remain payable.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
