K-Star Learning Academy (“K-Star”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a tutoring provider based in London, United Kingdom. We are the data controller of personal data collected via this website and during the delivery of our tutoring services. Contact: hello@kstarlearning.co.uk.
2. What information we collect
- Identity & contact: parent and student name, email, phone number, postal area.
- Academic information: year group, school, target grades, exam board and lesson notes.
- Booking & billing: lesson schedules, invoices and payment records (card details are handled by our payment processor and not stored by us).
- Technical: IP address, browser, device type and cookies set when you visit our website.
3. How we use your information
- To match students with suitable tutors and deliver lessons.
- To communicate about bookings, progress, scheduling and admin.
- To process payments and issue invoices.
- To improve our services and website (analytics, in aggregate).
- To comply with our legal and safeguarding obligations.
4. Legal bases (UK GDPR)
We rely on (a) contract — to provide tutoring you have asked for; (b) legitimate interests — running and improving our academy safely; (c) consent — for optional marketing emails and non-essential cookies; and (d) legal obligation — for safeguarding, tax and accounting records.
5. Sharing your information
We share personal data only with: tutors assigned to the student; our IT, payment and email service providers acting as processors; and authorities where required by law. We do not sell personal data.
6. How long we keep data
Active student records are kept for the duration of tuition plus 7 years for accounting purposes. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe. Website analytics are retained for up to 26 months.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@kstarlearning.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
8. Children’s data
We work with children and follow strict safeguarding policies. Bookings for under-16s are made by a parent or guardian, who provides consent on the child’s behalf.
